The total expenditure of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) in England and Wales was £12.7bn in 2017/18, newly-published statistics have shown.
Removing the effect of mergers and large transfers there was a like-for-like increase of £0.8bn or 7.4% on 2016/17.
