Labour in 'monumental effort' to boost northern productivity

Labour’s shadow Treasury team has announced it will fund a ‘monumental effort’ to boost productivity in northern England, including a £250bn transport and infrastructure programme.

Shadow chief secretary to the Treasury, Peter Dowd, said Labour would shortly convene meetings with regional mayors and local authorities to identify and prioritise infrastructure projects that could boost regional productivity so that the rest of the country catches up with London.
