Leaders lash out at ‘divisive and muddled’ Javid address

Council leaders have reacted angrily to communities secretary Sajid Javid’s Local Government Association (LGA) conference speech, with senior figures describing it as a ‘declaration of war’.

Speaking weeks after the sector was rocked by the Grenfell Tower tragedy, Mr Javid said Kensington & Chelsea RLBC had been guilty of ‘serious failings in the immediate aftermath,’ which ‘caused unnecessary suffering for residents’.
