Universal Credit done properly could be a very powerful weapon in the fight against poverty. Done wrongly, it has the very real potential to makes things worse.
Unfortunately, for far too many people Universal Credit has only added to the pressures they face. Among the numerous problems is the delay that those in need of financial support can experience between application and receipt. This means more hardship, debt, and anxiety for people who are already struggling.
