Lord Kerslake resigns in protest at underfunded NHS and social care

Lord Kerslake has resigned as chair of one of the NHS' largest hospital trusts in a high-profile protest at the underfunding of the health service and the way that it is organised.

Commenting on the lack of funding for social care to reduce demand for hospital services, he said a cross-party review on the fundamentals of how the country funds the NHS may now be necessary.
