Millions of pounds overpaid to local authorities by the Government will not be recovered, Marsham Street has confirmed.
In March, then local government secretary Sajid Javid said he would not seek to claw back the £36m of over-payments in 2017/18 but it remained unclear whether the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) would seek repayments to recover the mistake in future.
