May could be defeated on council finance

Tory MPs have warned the Government they are willing to mount a rebellion over the finance settlement for councils.

Unhappy Conservative backbenchers this week told chancellor Philip Hammond and local government secretary Sajid Javid to come up with emergency cash for social care services or they could vote against the settlement in the House of Commons on Wednesday.
