Mayor's meetings with contractors breached constitution

Meetings between Middlesbrough’s Mayor and contractors over the council’s flagship regeneration project were against the council’s constitution, internal auditors have found.

The internal audit report found Mayor Andy Preston’s undocumented meetings with contractors without officers present may have resulted in changes to the design and cost of the £21m Boho X office development between June and August 2020.
