Ed Miliband’s strategy for the public finances, as outlined in his speech yesterday, remains as clear as mud – but then perhaps he is better keeping it vague rather than throwing up hostages to fortune.
In short, he promises to cut the deficit but avoids any detail maintaining that this can only be examined ‘when in government’.
