Morse to maintain audit standards

National Audit Office chief Sir Amyas Morse has insisted he will not lower the standards expected from local auditors despite market concentration and plummeting fees.

Many in the sector have expressed concerns that the reduction in audit fees – 23% lower in 2018/19 than the previous year – will affect quality, future investment and the number of public interest reports, which are costly to produce.
