Northamptonshire seeks to stabilise finances

Cash-strapped Northamptonshire CC has agreed a stabilisation plan to help deal with an in-year forecast revenue overspend of more than £20m.

The plan outlines as series of ‘savings opportunities and measures’ that are expected to claw back £18.2m but it does not deal with a £35m legacy deficit, which the council hopes to recover by winning permission from the Government to use capital receipts.
