Northants publishes emergency plans to balance books

Troubled Northamptonshire CC has published emergency plans to stabilise its short-term finances by plugging last year’s £35m deficit, balancing its books this year and slashing future costs.

In January, the county became the first council to issue a Section 114 Notice for 20 years and it is currently subject to heavy oversight by two government-appointed commissioners led by former Lincolnshire CC chief executive Tony McArdle.
