Officers back call for extra cash from rates retention

Senior officers have backed Local Government Association (LGA) calls for any extra cash from 100% business rates retention (BRR) to be used to plug existing funding gaps.

The intervention from the Society of Local Authority Chief Executives (SOLACE) comes after LGA chairman Lord Porter warned the sector faced a ‘critical point’ for the sustainability of council finance.
