Omicron wave hits council services

Staff shortages caused by the COVID-19 pandemic are taking their toll on council services around the country.

Absence rates have spiked due to the rapid spread of the Omicron variant, which has led to record numbers of cases during the Christmas and new year period, with workers required to self-isolate if they are confirmed to have been infected.
