One Yorkshire backers press ahead despite Whitehall blow

Supporters of a single devolution deal for Yorkshire are pressing ahead with plans after the Government refused to engage with them.

The One Yorkshire plan, backed by 18 of the region’s 20 council leaders, features a combined authority with powers over public transport and adult skills, with a directly-elected mayor from as early as 2020.
