Persimmon takes profits hit

Housebuilder Persimmon has announced a fall in profits as it attempts to salvage its reputation.

In the company’s half-year results, it reported profit before tax of £509m, down from £516m at the same point last year.

Revenue also reduced by 4.5% to £1.754bn.
