Police bail extended for council leader and former chiefs

Four local government figures on bail in connection with a fraud probe have been told to return to a police station in three months’ time.

Former Liverpool City Council chief executive Ged Fitzgerald and the authority’s ex-interim boss David McElhinney, along with former Lancashire CC chief executive Phil Halsall and the council’s current leader Geoff Driver, were yesterday re-bailed until a date in August.
