Prevent strategy ‘in need of reform’

The Home Office’s Prevent strategy, aimed at stopping terrorism, is effective at local level but ‘requires reform’ and ‘needs to be better explained,’ experts have told The MJ.

Prevent forms a key strand of the Government’s four-pronged ‘Contest’ plan to tackle terrorism, and hit the headlines again this week when one of Britain’s most senior counter-terrorism police officers said criticism of the programme was sometimes based on ‘ignorance’.
