Government officials were this week accused of ‘giving up’ on small businesses after Whitehall delayed its procurement target for spending with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The Cabinet Office last week published figures showing that most government departments were nowhere near hitting their 2015 target of ensuring that one in every three pounds of procurement spending goes through SMEs by 2020.
