Rates increase warning after empty shops increase

Scotland’s retailers have warned policymakers against a hike in business rates beyond the Barclay Review after new figures showed an increase in empty shops.

A Scottish Retail Consortium (SRC) report today revealed that Scotland’s shop vacancy rate ‘worryingly’ increased from 9% in January to 9.2% last month.
