Rates revenue shoots up

Business rates revenue shot up by more than 40% last month compared to the previous year as the economy improved, according to latest figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

Business rates brought in £2.1bn in October compared to £1.5bn in October 2020.

For the full year 2020-21 business rates revenue is expected to hit £12.8bn - a 25% increase over the previous year.
