The 2021 festive season may not have offered quite the rest and recuperation that local government deserves as the country rode the crest of the latest wave of COVID.
Nevertheless, as we bound into 2022, the ink barely dry on the list of New Year’s resolutions, there remains a long list of policy issues that all require their own kind of resolution.
Last year’s adult social care White Paper has not resolved the issues surrounding care – another White Paper on social care is on its way, alongside legislation on planning and waste. And the prospect of soaring living costs looms large on the horizon – a scenario that will put pressure on council services if the Government doesn’t come up with a plan to ease the impact.
