Elected members must be ‘bolder and braver’ in combating a ‘poverty of respect’ from outside bodies who fail to recognise their democratic mandate, an academic has urged.
The call for councillors to be shown greater respect was made this week as the final report of the De Montfort University (DMU) and The MJ Councillor Commission was published.
