Returning officers attack Government over 'lack of knowledge'

Returning officers have accused the Government of a ‘complete lack of knowledge’ after being told to avoid using schools as polling stations.

Education secretary Gavin Williamson this week wrote to councils asking them to find alternative venues for people to cast their votes on 12 December, to avoid disrupting nativities and other Christmas events at schools.
