Riding the local government rollercoaster

I am spending Easter in Disneyland and have been reflecting on the similarities between that environment and local government. Sort of ‘Magic Kingdom’ one day, ‘Tower of Terror’ the next.

It certainly has been a bit of a rollercoaster ride over the last few months and at Tandridge there have been a number of meetings recently which required nerves of steel as we debated the pros and cons of the new garden village, the development of open space for affordable housing and a regeneration scheme for one of our towns, involving significant investment and funded in part by the introduction of charges for car parking.
