Salford's £25m cladding loan halted by Government

The Government has blocked Salford City Council’s plans to loan £25m to replace cladding on nine tower blocks.

The blocks do not qualify for the Government’s £400m fund for cladding replacement, as they are run by Pendleton Together on a PFI basis, rather than directly by the council or a housing association.
