Schemes pressure poorer families

Each new wave of council tax support schemes (CTS) has put a greater burden on low income families, a briefing has found.

The New Policy Institute found that several councils are planning to introduce a minimum payment, the amount that claimants have to pay regardless of income.

It added that several of the councils with the highest minimum payment are considering further increases.
