Scottish census 'lies in ruins'

Ministers have insisted the 87.9% Scottish response rate ‘does not call into question the returns of the census’ despite opposition claims it ‘lies in ruins’.

The census response rate for the rest of the UK in 2021 was 97% and National Records of Scotland had agreed a 94% target.
