Sector must be honest about financial issues

Local government must stop being so defensive of poor performance and face up to variations across the country, a county chief executive has demanded.

Writing in The MJ this week, Leicestershire CC boss John Sinnott called for ‘more openness and honesty’ from the sector about both the extent of the financial difficulties facing some councils and future sustainability.
