Local government bodies have discussed jointly lobbying ministers over much-needed investment amid fears the scramble for a fair funding deal could tear apart the sector.
Senior figures from 14 council-linked bodies met in London last week to discuss whether, after years of austerity, there is a greater appetite for co-ordinating a campaign that would unite the sector behind prioritising a greater quantum of cash from Whitehall.
