Separate audit is needed for housing benefit work

Section 151 officers have been reminded they will have to procure accountants to carry out their housing benefit certification work separately.

Finance staff will have to hire an accredited accounting firm even if they have opted in to the sector-led national scheme for the examination of their final accounts, developed by Public Sector Audit Appointments (PSAA).
