Simmonds beats Carter to lead LGA Tories

Hillingdon LBC’s deputy leader has seen off competition from the County Councils’ Network’s chairman to be named leader of the Local Government Association’s (LGA) Conservative group.

The margin between Cllr David Simmonds and Kent CC leader, Cllr Paul Carter, is understood to have been close but the Conservative group has not disclosed the full results.
