Social care investment is a benefit, not a cost

The spring Budget announcement of a further £2bn for local authorities to ease the pressures on social care is very welcome. It marks a significant step towards protecting the services caring for the most vulnerable over the next couple of years.

It shows the concerted, cross-party and multi-agency lobbying campaign – that the social care system is in crisis now and unsustainable in the future – has gained important political traction.
