Spike in adult safeguarding concerns

Local authorities dealt with 1,000 adult abuse concerns per day during 2016/17, with one-third of them becoming full-blown safeguarding inquiries.

Data on safeguarding adults released by NHS Digital last week showed a spike in the number of formal enquiries initiated by local authorities during the second year in which safeguarding adults was a statutory duty.
