Stand up and be counted

Few can have missed the stark contrast between Nicola Sturgeon marching confidently from Holyrood onto the Brussels stage just hours after David Cameron was sent packing back to the Westminister rabble.

Many in local government will look enviously at her leadership style, if not her politics, as the consequences of Brexit and its political fallout leave a sense of helplessness south of the Scottish border.
