The West Midlands - Government's new favourite?

One of the most striking aspects of last month’s Conservative Party Conference was the high prominence given to Andy Street, Tory candidate for West Midlands metro mayor.

This was followed by speculation that the West Midlands could secure a second devolution deal to take on more fiscal powers which, while as yet unconfirmed by government, would be a hugely significant first in UK city region devolution.
