The budgetary impact behind rising costs of kids in care

Over the past four years as they have dealt with big funding cuts local authorities have done a remarkable job in sparing their residents from the realities of austerity.

In fact they have generally done it so successfully that not only has Big Society been kicked into touch but the general public have scarcely even begun to reconsider the role of the state as omnipotent provider of services.

‘Demand management’ may be the buzzphrase among local authority directors but ask the average person in the Dog and Duck what it means and you will receive a blank stare.
