The worst is yet to come

There’s still no pledge from Government to put more cash into services for children and families. This cannot be allowed to be the norm, writes Stuart Gallimore

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government recently published its provisional local authority out-turn data for 2017/18. It shows local authorities in England spent £8.8bn on children’s social care last year – 4.3% more than 2016/17. This represents £816m more than budgeted for last year.
