The prime minister’s recent speech and roadmap for Brexit is naturally causing a great degree of interest.
There will be real change, with a break from the way we have done things in the past. We shall use new freedoms and flexibilities in developing a new future for the UK and getting the best possible deal. Those principles are also highly relevant to some of the challenges facing local government.
Running in parallel to the timings of the Brexit negotiations will be the proposals for business rates localisation and the conclusions of the important needs-based review.
