Trading services expenditure increases by third

Local authority expenditure on trading services rose by a third in real terms from 2017/18 to 2018/19, new statistics have revealed.

Expenditure on trading services, which includes commercial activity, totalled £4bn – up £993m – with the biggest spenders being Thurrock (£401m) and Spelthorne (£375m) BCs, and Croydon LBC (£294m).
