Treasury windfall from council pay rise

The Treasury would save 39% of the cost of awarding council workers the pay rise called for in their 2018 claim, according to new research published today by trade union Unison.

Unions have called for a 5% pay rise and the real living wage for the lowest paid in their claim, which would cost £623m.
