Tributes to ‘committed and dedicated’ former Gateshead chief

Gateshead MBC has paid tribute to former chief executive and ‘true gentleman’ Roger Kelly following his death aged 65.

Mr Kelly joined Gateshead in 1987 as deputy director of legal services, going on to serve as chief executive from 2004 to 2012.

A year later he received an OBE in the 2013 New Year’s Honours list for services to local government and the community in Gateshead and the north-east.
