Union warning over Northamptonshire pay freeze

Trade unions and opposition councillors this week criticised Northamptonshire CC’s decision to freeze staff pay – warning it will exacerbate existing recruitment and retention problems.

Unison, local government’s largest trade union, warned staff morale at Northamptonshire had ‘plummeted’ since the council announced it would freeze pay in 2018/19 as part of emergency measures to ensure it agreed a legal budget.
