I’ve always been proud to work in local government. Seeing all our teams tackle the crisis facing our communities head-on with quiet dedication and commitment while also dealing with personal worries and anxieties makes me even more proud.

Looking back over the past few weeks it is incredible to see the transformation of the way in which we deliver services, including in our own finance teams. We have had to look at the way in which we do everything – from paying suppliers, getting resources out to those who most need them and assessing the impact of multiple central Government announcements on a daily basis and all while embracing new technologies to ensure we can work from home.
