We need a system of fairer funding fit for the 21st Century

Amid all the uncertainty that surrounds local government finance, there is one area where, after years of broken promises, some progress is finally being made: the fair funding review.

Following pressure from the County Councils Network (CCN), the Government recognised in early 2016 that the current system is flawed and the needs assessment formula requires updating.
