West Sussex to appoint joint chief executive

West Sussex CC has announced a new improvement plan which will see neighbouring East Sussex CC’s chief executive take on a joint chief executive post.

West Sussex CC’s chief executive, Nathan Elvery, was suspended in September after a report into the council’s failing children’s services department by Hampshire CC chief John Coughlan.

Children’s services have now been moved into an independent trust, with Mr Coughlan reappointed as commissioner for the next year.

Mr Elvery finally left at the end of last month.
