Working together for Islington’s future

The enduring view of Islington is one of an affluent borough full of well-to-do families, and there is no doubt we have a thriving, diverse and growing economy here – but we want that economy to work for and benefit all of our residents.

Currently, more than one in three children are living in poverty – the third-highest level in England – and there is a strong link between child poverty and workless households. On top of this, in-work poverty, where people struggle to make ends meet despite holding down a job, is a reality for too many Islington families.
