After the election, beware of needless reshuffles

Is there a word of political analysis from last week’s local elections that has been left unsaid? Has the entire UK now exhausted the bickering over the size of Ben Houchen’s majority and what exactly it means for Rishi Sunak?

The Government messaging throughout pre-election politics was that local votes were bound to be a bloodbath for the Conservatives, and to scrutinise instead the more indicative mayoral results across Tees Valley and the West Midlands. Even by that limited measurement, it was a mixed picture for the incumbent Government.
