Funding investigation

East Midlands Councils has said it plans to investigate the reasons why its member authorities have won only £5m of the £110m Government transformation funding. Executive director Stuart Young told The MJ he did not think the outcome was because the region’s councils were less ambitious or transformative.

He said: ‘We’ve got some cracking councils here. There are some really good examples of transformative programmes. There is a role for us.’
