AI’s tipping point

The global summit at the UK’s Bletchley Park last month, hosted by the Prime Minister, focused on the need to tackle the risks around the development of artificial intelligence (AI).

Will AI kill or save humanity? It’s hard to judge, given that supposed leaps in the capability of AI are shrouded in secrecy. This makes it hard to reach agreement on whether new developments are a good or bad thing. Certainly, little is known about how San Francisco-based AI research and deployment company OpenAI develops its technology.
